Like any other man-made machine, your lift can fail or malfunction. In addition, its operation is directly dependent on electricity. All this means that there is a high chance that the lift will stop working suddenly and without warning.

The reasons that can interrupt the operation of a lift are briefly as follows:

– Power failure.

– Overloading (more than the permitted number of persons or cargo transfer).

– Damage to the lift, which is mainly of an electrical nature.

– Mechanical stress on the lift such as an object entering the gap during transport.

Trapped people are in a safe environment with adequate ventilation while they are trapped and therefore there is no need for concern, haste, risk or recklessness!

The responsibility for the rescue is not only our company but also the Fire Department.
The reason is that it can intervene directly in such incidents.

Especially in hydraulic lifts there is automatic release.

We do not take any action. The car is automatically lowered to the nearest stop, the trapped person manually opens the car/shaft doors and exits the lift.

In the event that the automatic release does not work due to a failure, someone should go to the engine room and follow these instructions:

  1. We turn off the General Movement Switch (not lighting).
  2. Press or turn the red lever of the manual descent valve, which is located in the drive mechanism.
  3. The chamber starts to move downwards. When the chamber reaches exactly the closest downward position, (always in consultation with the trapped person) release the red lever.
  4. The trapped person manually opens the car/shaft doors and exits the lift.
  5. We leave the General Movement Switch down and call the ALFA LIFT Maintenance Manager at 210 7751371.

CAUTION: All actions must be taken in consultation with the trapped person.

  1. We turn off the General Circuit Breaker of the traction current (not the lighting).
  2. If using automatic release, lower the ON/OFF switch on the control panel to the OFF position.
  3. Release the engine brake with the specially provided lever.
  4. Contact the trapped person and start to slowly turn the engine runner by hand in the direction of least difficulty (this depends on the position of the chamber in the manhole)
  5. The chamber begins to move towards the nearest door. When the car is directly in front of the door (this is confirmed by the indication on the lift panel, if there is one), close the brake. The trapped person manually opens the door and exits the chamber.
  6. After the extrication has been carried out, check that all doors are securely closed and locked.
  7. We leave the General Movement Switch down and call the ALFA LIFT Maintenance Manager at 210 7751371.

CAUTION: All actions must be taken in consultation with the trapped person.
